Former Team GB Olympian, Everyone Active Sporting Champion Elite Athlete and the country’s most successful taekwondo athlete of all time, Lutalo Muhammad recently led a half term activity session for kids at The Forum Centre in Wythenshawe.
As many as 35 local children – some as young as four years old – attended to enjoy a free taekwondo taster event with the double Olympic medallist.
During his visit, Lutalo enlightened the children about his journey from first starting taekwondo in his living room aged three, to the very peak of his sport. There was also a Q&A session, where the kids were able to ask Lutalo questions about his career, as well as Lutalo demonstrating some basic moves, alongside teaching the kids some Korean terminology.
Lutalo said of the event: “Being able to spend time with local children is so rewarding for me. I love events like this and even if I can hopefully inspire one young person here to take up a sport they love, or aim high in life, that’s what’s important. All of the kids here today were so engaged and it was a pleasure to be involved.”
Phil Bowers, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “We owe a huge thank you to Lutalo for such a fantastic session. Elite sport can be so powerful in opening young people’s eyes to what’s possible for them and Lutalo’s visit could be the one thing that makes a difference to one young person’s future.”
