Elite athletes representing the Everyone Active Sporting Champions scheme, along with up-and-coming athletes who are part of the initiative, will gather at Porchester Hall in Bayswater, London on Tuesday, November 7 for the 2023 Sporting Champions Awards.
Returning after a four-year hiatus, the event will be hosted by Great Britain’s double world 110m hurdles champion and former world record holder Colin Jackson. He will be joined by Olympic and Paralympic stars including Lutalo Muhammad, Richard Kilty, Maisie Summers-Newton, Kadeena Cox and Lauren Steadman, who will share their insights and experiences with the Sporting Champions at a mentoring workshop before the event.
The scheme, which provides support for 1,400 athletes, is now in its seventh year and has helped thousands of athletes achieve their sporting potential by providing free access to Everyone Active’s nationwide leisure facilities.
There are awards for the athletes, including Regional Champions for the East, West, and South East, while a National Champion will also be announced. Meanwhile, we’ll also be crowning a Social Media Champion for the Sporting Champion who has promoted themselves and the scheme best on social media.
As well as awards for the athletes, the ceremony will include the Site of the Year award, which will be presented to the centre that has done the most to support its athletes.
